Architecture Intent
Strategic Vision
- What we are building: An Architecture Intelligence Platform that connects Business Intent, Architecture Decisions, and Code Reality into a unified, traceable graph.
- Why it exists: To eliminate architectural drift and governance bottlenecks by transforming governance from a periodic review activity into a continuous operational participant (ReasoningOps/GovernanceOps).

Current State Alignment
The system is in a 'partially aligned' state. While foundational structures like the Architecture Work Registry are established, there is significant backlog pressure (22 proposed items) and a persistence lag where operational decisions lack formal ADR records.
Focus Areas / Roadmap
- Execute mandatory governance synchronization to resolve the 22-item proposed backlog.
- Formalize and persist ADRs for the Architecture Work Registry and Governance Lifecycle.
- Define and implement the Business Intent Schema for strategic traceability.
- Implement the runtime-native governance controller for automated drift detection.
- Migrate to a graph-based schema for the Architecture Knowledge Graph to support multi-hop impact analysis.
Gaps & Tensions (Risks)
- Governance Bottleneck: The 22:6 ratio of proposed to completed work exceeds the 3:1 healthy threshold.
- Persistence Lag: Core architectural decisions are being implemented before being formally persisted as ADRs.
- Intent Definition Gap: Absence of a formal Business Intent schema prevents automated strategic-to-technical traceability.
- Signal-to-Pattern Linkage: Low linkage between emerging patterns and the evidentiary signals that justify them.
Principles
- Decisions are Central: All architectural changes must be governed by an ADR.
- Traceability over Abstraction: Every insight must be linked to verifiable evidence.
- Governance as Participation: Governance must be embedded in execution, not external to it.
- Extend, Don't Rewrite: Build on existing CAS primitives (AEM, AID, ADR).
- Human Authority: Automation participates in detection, but humans remain the authoritative governors.
Emergent Heuristics
backlog_pressure_threshold: Maintain a ratio of proposed to completed architecture work below 3:1. persistence_precedence: Decisions must be persisted as ADRs before implementation stages can be marked as DONE. signal_linkage_requirement: All heuristic patterns must include links to the signals or evidence that triggered their creation.
