Current State Alignment

The system is partially aligned. Foundational mechanics (Runner, Provider Abstraction) are operational, but there is significant 'persistence lag' where core capabilities lack formalized ADR status. A backlog of 22 proposals indicates high discovery activity without sufficient governance progression.

Focus Areas / Roadmap

  • Establish mandatory Business Intent Schema for all Alignment Engine inputs.
  • Implement the automated 'Detect-Analyse-Execute' governance loop for autonomous drift detection.
  • Backfill and formalize ADRs for the 'DONE' core system capabilities (Runner, Knowledge Provider).
  • Develop the Architecture Knowledge Graph for cross-project lineage and portfolio intelligence.
  • Introduce Interactive Architecture Intelligence Maps (AIM) for visual governance navigation.

Gaps & Tensions (Risks)

  • Governance Drift: 22 proposed items are currently stalled in the pipeline.
  • Persistence Lag: Disconnect between implementation 'DONE' state and authoritative ADR documentation.
  • Intent Schema Absence: Strategic vision for Business Intent integration is not yet supported by a mandatory schema contract.

Principles

  • Extend, don't rewrite: Leverage existing CAS primitives for all new intelligence capabilities.
  • Decisions remain central: The ADR is the immutable source of truth for architectural evolution.
  • Traceability over abstraction: Every architectural insight must be linked to observable evidence.
  • Human-in-the-loop: Automation participates and suggests; humans interpret, govern, and decide.

Emergent Heuristics

governance_velocity: If proposed items exceed active items by 3:1, trigger a governance refinement cycle. artifact_integrity: No system capability shall be considered 'DONE' until an 'APPROVED' ADR is registered in the Knowledge System.
