Architecture Intent

Strategic Vision

  • What we are building: An Architecture Intelligence Platform that connects business intent, architecture, code, and decisions into a continuous reasoning loop.
  • Why it exists: To eliminate the governance velocity bottleneck and ensure implementation remains structurally aligned with business and architectural intent through automated participation.

Project Context

primary_context: ideas-to-life-cas aw_count: 30 alignment_findings: 3

Current State Alignment

The system is currently in a state of high 'Persistence Lag' with a 22:1 proposal-to-acceptance ratio. While foundational patterns are promoted, governance documentation lags behind implementation 'DONE' states, creating a critical alignment risk.

Focus Areas / Roadmap

  • {'phase': 'Immediate (Governance Stabilization)', 'priority': 'Critical', 'focus': 'Backfill ADRs for Knowledge Provider Abstraction and Governance Portal to resolve DONE-status violations.'}
  • {'phase': 'Near-term (Intent Integration)', 'priority': 'High', 'focus': 'Operationalize Business Intent Schema and integrate into the Alignment Engine.'}
  • {'phase': 'Mid-term (Intelligence Scaling)', 'priority': 'Medium', 'focus': 'Develop initial Architecture Knowledge Graph for multi-hop lineage and complex querying.'}
  • {'phase': 'Long-term (Autonomous Governance)', 'priority': 'Low', 'focus': 'Implement Automated Detect-Analyse-Execute Loop for continuous governance runtime.'}

Gaps & Tensions (Risks)

  • Governance Velocity Bottleneck: Implementation is progressing at 15x the rate of formal decision recording.
  • Strategic Intent Gap: Missing formal connection between high-level business objectives and technical patterns.
  • Persistence Lag: Implementation 'DONE' states lack corresponding 'ACCEPTED' ADRs.
  • Stale Decision Status: Critical governance standards (e.g., Diagram Governance) remain in pending states while being actively applied.

Principles

  • {'name': 'Decisions are Central', 'statement': 'All system capabilities must integrate with or derive from an Architecture Decision Record (ADR).'}
  • {'name': 'Intent-First', 'statement': 'Architectural changes must be traceable back to business intent before promotion.'}
  • {'name': 'Governance as Participation', 'statement': 'Governance should be an active participant in the delivery workflow, not a periodic review event.'}
  • {'name': 'Traceability over Abstraction', 'statement': 'Every architectural insight or pattern must be linked to concrete implementation evidence.'}

Emergent Heuristics

governance_velocity_threshold: Maintain a maximum 5:1 ratio of proposed items to accepted decisions to prevent persistence lag. evidence_calibration: A 'DONE' state in the AEM without an 'ACCEPTED' ADR constitutes a critical governance failure.
