Architecture Intent

Strategic Vision

  • What we are building: An end-to-end Architecture Intelligence Platform connecting Business Intent, Architecture, Code, and Decisions into a continuous, active lifecycle.
  • Why it exists: To proactively eliminate architectural drift, operationalize governance through closed-loop ReasoningOps and GovernanceOps, and ensure implementation decisions strictly align with strategic business intent.

Current State Alignment

The system achieves stable execution decoupling and empirical AST discovery, but current state diverges from intended governance integrity. Core orchestration remains operational without an authoritative ADR baseline, synthetic placeholder entries corrupt planning repositories, and backlog progression is stalled by unratified stage advancements.

Focus Areas / Roadmap

  • P1: Foundation Governance Ratification — Draft and formally ratify the foundational ADR for the Core Orchestration Pipeline (aw-alignment-20260928-01).
  • P1: Registry Sanitization & Schema Intake — Purge placeholder artifacts from the Architecture Work registry and enforce strict pre-commit schema validation (aw-alignment-20260928-02).
  • P2: Lifecycle Gate Enforcement — Implement automated gating within CAS Runner preventing progression to stage NEXT until ADR forum status is 'accepted' (aw-alignment-20260928-03).
  • P2: Business Intent Domain Schema — Formulate and register the Pydantic schema contract for Business Intent ingestion into the Alignment Engine (aw-alignment-20260928-04).
  • P3: Continuous Detect-Analyse-Execute Loop — Operationalize event-driven CI validation triggers and proactive architectural remediation suggestions.
  • P4: Architecture Knowledge Graph — Expand repository decoupling to support multi-hop dependency queries and cross-project architectural lineage.

Gaps & Tensions (Risks)

  • ALIGN-001: Operational Core Orchestration Pipeline executes in production workflows without an accepted foundational ADR baseline, threatening architectural provenance.
  • ALIGN-002: Synthetic placeholder records ('dummy_string') contaminate the authoritative Architecture Work registry and cascade into AEM summary calculations.
  • ALIGN-003: Candidate architecture items prematurely advance to stage NEXT prior to Architecture Forum ADR ratification, violating lifecycle promotion gates.
  • ALIGN-004: Business Intent integration lacks a formalized machine-readable Pydantic schema contract, delaying automated intent ingestion into the Alignment Engine.
  • Proposal Saturation: Backlog accumulation of 22 unprogressed proposals without formal triage or forum progression.

Principles

  • Extend, Don't Rewrite: Build incrementally upon established CAS primitives including patterns, ADRs, AEM, and AID.
  • Decisions Remain Central: Every capability evolution and structural modification must align with a ratified Architecture Decision Record.
  • Traceability Over Abstraction: Architectural intent must maintain an explicit, unbroken chain of evidence from business requirements to implementation AST.
  • Human Authority Over System Proposals: The system proposes structural alignments; human architects govern, interpret, and ratify.
  • Fail-Fast Domain Contracts: Enforce deterministic Pydantic schema boundaries at every step transition to eliminate hallucination and invalid state propagation.

Emergent Heuristics

promotion_gate: No evolution item may enter stage NEXT without an accepted ADR in forum status. data_purity_rule: Planning and work registries must fail pre-commit validation upon detection of unpopulated synthetic placeholders. intent_verification: Architecture intent must align with empirical code reality through automated AST verification rather than manual declaration.
